Along with collectibles, NFTs are excellent access tools due to the relationship shared between the NFT & the smart contract that created it.
As mentioned, each event has its own smart contract which includes a ‘smart contract address’ - the unique Web3 username of that event.
By using this smart contract address with Web3 enabled platforms, you can create experiences that are gated to only allow access for NFT holders.
Setting up an NFT or ‘Token’ Gated Experience:
Setting up these experiences is as easy as having your event’s smart contract address on hand & entering it into the contract address field of whatever platform you’re working with.
Take for example community hub platform Bonfire:
Bonfire’s token gating system allows for a great deal of customisation, which on the surface can be overwhelming but in reality is easy to use & powerful. Let’s break it down.
Firstly its good to know that you can token gate a page or experience with multiple NFTs by using multiple smart contract addresses. This allows you to then filter down access to give deeper connected fans more tailored experiences.
Own 1 NFT? Access the community hub, Own 5 NFTs? Here’s some free merchandise. 10 NFTs? How about a Meet & Greet Ticket.
The first question asked on this page is whether a user needs all NFTs that you gate with or simply one of the NFTs you add as a requirement.
We recommend to choose ‘Any of the requirements’ to begin with.
You then need to choose the blockchain network - here you can simply choose ‘Polygon’ as all NFT Tickets through GET Protocol are issued on Polygon.
You’ll then need to enter your contract address which you can copy from the ‘Blockchain’ tab in your event’s dashboard. You’ll just need the contract address similar to:
0xc916E4492Cf9f0555CFDd131333A1e778f9a6710
You can then hit save & just like that you’ve created an NFT gated experience!
Any attendee that has claimed their NFT Ticket for this event can now enter the experience by verifying the NFT in their wallet.
