It is possible to use a unique access-link. As soon as the access-link is used by a visitor, it is linked to his / her account. The access-link can therefore no longer be used by another person.
You can use this if you want to give specific people early access or special access to a shop with a discount, and you don't want to run the risk of a link being shared on social media and used by many.
How does an access link work?
A unique access link is a protected link that gives the customer access to a specific shop. This means that the rules of the shop apply.
In case of the example below, you see that for an event (with slug wnal8k) 4 different links with codes have been issued. Each link sends the user to the same shop, where the maximum number of tickets to buy per person is 1.
Once the link is clicked, the link is associated with the visitor's account. After that, the link is unusable.
Example:
Rick with account +31612121212 clicks on the link with code RWY54 and will be forwarded to the shop GET MEETING. The link ending in RWY54 will be linked to Rick's account (+3161221212) and therefore unusable for others. If Rick now sends the link with code RWY54 to another person, it will not be usable by the other person.
Rick buys 1 ticket in the GET MEETING shop with his account (+31612121212), and has thus purchased the maximum number of tickets in the shop.
Rick now also gets the link with code XY82S, he clicks on the link. Because Ricks account already has a code linked to it, it doesn't make sense to also link this new code. The link only gives access to the shop. So, the link ending in XY82S stays valid and therefore is useable for others.
Set up access links through a gate
First, make sure you create an event and create a shop where the customers can be linked to. Read all about creating events here and read about shops here.
When your shop is ready, create a gate (read more about creating gates here) and make sure the correct shop is added to the gate. Then, under 'access', check the box 'requires access links':
After saving you can click on the tab 'access links' and export an X number of links here:
How does it work for an attendee?
As soon as an attendee clicks on a link, he / she goes through the following steps:
- Log in > The attendee must log in so that the specific access link can be linked to his / her account.
- Purchase a ticket > The attendee goes through the online shop and selects the tickets he/she wants to buy.
- Create profile > If it is the first time that the attendee uses GUTS, he / she will have to create a profile by filling in some data. As an organization, you can set which data you want to request. You can read about it here.
- Payment > Once the payment has been completed, the customer will receive a confirmation of his / her purchase by email. If it is a free ticket, all you need to do is complete the order.
See below the steps that a customer goes through (Dutch envirement):
If a customer tries an already used access link, he / she will not get past the login page and will receive an error message.
An access-link is linked to an account after login. However, if a customer is already logged in via GUTS and then clicks on the link, it wil be linked immediately.
